W środę, 29 czerwca, nasz zespół wraz z innymi członkami nowohuckich stowarzyszeń i inicjatyw na zaproszenie Stowarzyszenia Miłośników Historii RAWELIN miał możliwość zwiedzenia od środka budynków „S” i „Z” Centrum Administracyjnego Kombinatu. Naszą wycieczkę rozpoczęliśmy od budynku „S” („socjalnego”), gdzie mieściły się biura o mniej reprezentatywnym charakterze niż w naprzeciwległym budynku „Z”, lecz nie znaczy to, że jest to budynek mniej interesujący. Znajduje się tutaj Sala Teatralna z niezwykłym sklepieniem w kształcie koła, które będąc niegdyś otwarte, pozwalało na zajrzenie do Sali ludziom z wyższych pięter, gdzie znajdowała się biblioteka. Biblioteka ta była swego czasu najlepiej wyposażoną biblioteką w Krakowie, jeśli chodzi o literaturę techniczną i hutniczą. Teraz pomieszczenia stoją puste, pozbawione regałów i zbiorów, które zostały rozdane krakowskim uczelniom lub pracownikom.
Następnie udaliśmy się podziemnym przejściem do budynku „Z”, gdzie mieściły się gabinety dyrektorów i późniejszych prezesów huty. Budynek ten pełnił rolę reprezentacyjną, gościł w swoich murach wiele osobistości wizytujących kombinat, zarówno z krajów Bloku Wschodniego, jak i zza Żelaznej Kurtyny (np. Fidela Castro czy Charles’a de Gaulle), dlatego też został on wykonany z lepszych materiałów i jest znacznie bardziej zdobiony, niż budynek „S”. Kolumny na każdym piętrze, marmury, dedykowane meble, których nie sposób spotkać nigdzie indziej to najbardziej rzucające się elementy dekorujące wnętrza. Jednak najbardziej charakterystycznym pomieszczeniem jest sala konferencyjna, pełna krzeseł projektowanych specjalnie do niej, marmurami na ścianach i piękną, mozaikową posadzką. Sufit zdobią kasetony oraz imponujący żyrandol. Po chwili przeszliśmy do dalszej części budynku, w której mieszczą się biura i inne pomieszczenia, jak np. dyspozytornia z w pełni działającym sprzętem nagrywającym, o czym mogliśmy się przekonać słuchając nagrania pewniej rozmowy telefonicznej. Po wyjściu na ostatnie piętro budynku „Z” mogliśmy z bliska przyjrzeć się zdobionej kopule, wieńczącej klatkę schodową. Podczas poruszania się po schodach na naszą uwagę zwrócił fakt, że poręcze się nienaturalnie niskie, co nieco utrudnia wchodzenie i schodzenie.
Z budynków przenieśliśmy się w inne miejsce, równie ważne i charakterystyczne w historii Huty i Kombinatu. Zeszliśmy do schronów, gdzie mogliśmy podejrzeć, jak w razie zagrożenia wyglądało zarządzanie Kombinatem. W schronach, poza oryginalnym wyposażeniem, znajdują się zbiory pozyskane przez Stowarzyszenie Rawelin, związane z Ochroną Cywilną i funkcjonowaniem schronów: maski przeciwgazowe, przenośne stacje meteorologiczne, łączność, wyposażenie medyczne…
Pod koniec naszej wizyty zajrzeliśmy również do skarbca Kombinatu – to tutaj przygotowywano i wydawano wypłaty dla pracowników. Ciekawostką jest to, że nieznane jest miejsce, w którym przechowywany jest klucz do sejfu, dlatego od pewnego czasu pozostaje on zamknięty i niedostępny. Ostatnim punktem wycieczki była sala, w której odbywały się odbywały się szkolenia OC Kombinatu, pełna ciekawego sprzętu wykorzystywanego przez tą formację i innych urządzeń pochodzących z biur Centrum Administracyjnego.
Kombinat to naprawdę wielka historia Nowej Huty. Osobiście jest nam bardzo przykro, że miejsce nie jest odpowiednio chronione i wykorzystane. Utrzymanie budynku jest bardzo drogie, a jego przyszłość na tę chwilę jest nieznana.
